Doubling and Halving

 In class, we learned a new strategy called Doubling and halving

When you do this strategy you Double and half the numbers to make the question easier to answer. 

Example:

4    x     8   =  

Db        1\2

8    x     9   = 72

 

Learning Goals Tm 3 2022

This week we have set goals to work towards. These are the goals I set with my class. 

Limericks, limericks, limericks. So many limericks.

 In class this term we have been learning how to write limericks.

A limerick poem is a short humerus story that has 5 lines and is  in the order of AABBA

The apprentice Fairy

I once met an apprentice from Keri

She was training to be a fairy

But one day she got a big fright

She realised she was scared of hight

That was the apprentice from Keri

The kid from the Christian School

I once met a kid from Kaikohe Christian School

He was heart-broken they didn't have a swimming pool

But to his great knowledge

He realised they walk to the northland Collage

That was the kid from the Kaikohe Christian School

  

The girl called Zoe

I once taught a girl called Zoe

She was never ever toey

She sings like an angel in front of our school

And most people think she is really cool

That was the girl called Zoe

Technology and River Science - reading for understanding

 Our topic is water and science. We have been learning to use text titles, sub-headings, diagrams, photographs/images, keywords and lead sentences to help us find the key ideas.

We read 2 books about water and the health of a river they are called Testing The Waters and Talking To The Rivers,

We had to write one paragraph about what the book is about and what it is telling us.

Did you know that there are many steps to test water?

 In Reading this term so far we have been reading an information report called Testing The Waters. It mostly tells you all the steps to how you test the water to see if it is polluted or not.

How healthy are you realy?

 In class this term we have been learning about what it means to be healthy

Zoe's cold task, its so cold it hasn't even had time to defrost yet.

 In class this term we have been writing a Narrative's, this is my "cold task. " A cold task is what we can write in 30 mins.

 After I was finished with my cold task I went and did a self-assessment where I set my writing goals and work on it to make it better. I am working on learning figurative language and show not telling in my writing.

Name: Zoe Crichton 

Picher this Acland 2024 you’re at the Zoo with your two best friends Emma and Rose. You're hiding from the animals that have escaped from their enclosures and are roaming the Zoo. Well, that was me, Sophia. Myself and my friends thought it would be a good idea to go to the grand opening of the new Zoo. Let me tell you the crazy story… 

So it was around 9:00, 9:30 ish in the morning. The air was crisp and fresh there was a soft wind gently caressing our hair as we walked up to the entrance. Emma was telling us about his massive folbea of spiders as we gingerly walked to the front desk. “They are just so gross they have so many legs and for what reason!” 

After 2 hours of looking at many, many animals and getting a lifetime of selfies it was time to see the lions. Roes was getting really excited at this point, hir dad was one of the keepers and was the one doing the feeding show But. just as we were turning a corner we heard the announcement “ Hello everyone the Zoo is going into lockdown I repeat we are going into lockdown go and hied, this is not a drill! “
